Woman Trades Marriage for RV Life with Daughter and Cat
As impossible as it might be to imagine, sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is move on.
After fighting for a marriage that just couldn’t be fixed, TikToker Jackie Bond realized she was spending too much time looking to the past, so she decided to let it all go and look to the future, trading in her marriage for life on the road with her young daughter and cat.
In her announcement video, Bond stands outside the old RV that she purchased at auction, with the goal of making the space a real home for her family to travel across the United States.
Bond reflected:
“I broke up with my husband, and then I bought an old RV from an auction.”
“I know that sounds insane.”
“But I needed a new start. A real one.”
“So now it’s me, my little daughter, and our cat living in this old RV, and we’re trying to turn it into a real home.”
Throughout the video, the TikToker updated the RV’s look with a fresh coat of country blue paint on the cabinets and a dusty rose color on the hallway closet doors, creating a lovely country theme that went perfectly with her cow-print crop top and white cowboy boots.
Unlike how she’d felt while trying to save her marriage, Bond sounded hopeful:
“Today might be cute, or it might be a complete disaster, but at least we’re doing it.”
“And one day, this old RV will take us across all 50 states.”
“Me, my daughter, my cat, and whatever is left of my sanity.”

Fellow TikTokers applauded Bond for setting such a positive, if unconventional, example for her daughter.

Since posting that video, this single mom has gained more than 66.5 thousand followers talking about RV life, motherhood, life on the road, and of course, the continued renovation of her RV.
Breaking the project down into small, manageable steps, Bond has created a path that truly anyone could follow, from using paint, wallpaper, and peel-and-stick vinyl to freshen up the look of the space without breaking the bank; to ripping out the features that don’t serve your family, like a bulky built-in and coffee table; to doing other fairly easy updates like reupholstering furniture.
Most importantly, after months of living the RV life with her daughter and cat, Bond can confirm that her decision was not the “dumb idea” that some assumed it was at first. Getting a divorce was exactly what she needed to open the door to a life of travel and adventure, and to raise her daughter to always know her worth and to fight for what she wants, even when it goes against societal norms.
Divorce obviously isn’t always the answer, but after months of travel, new state borders crossed, and priceless experiences with her family, it clearly was for Jackie Bond.
Her daughter sure seems to think so!
