Family Purchases 'Village' of Campers to Give Teens Their Own Space
Any parent will tell you that kids, teens especially, need their own space and privacy.
Some will say that a bed of their own, or maybe a bed and a closet of their own, will suffice, while others will advocate for them to have their own bedroom and bathroom.
For Reece, @reecebarndo_justpeachy on TikTok, each of her teen and young adult children deserved their own camper.
Reece and her husband had purchased a large lot and were building a massive, barn-style home on it that would include separate spaces for the married couple, each of their children, Reece’s parents, and guests.
In the meantime, the family built a 40x60 barn ceiling, and underneath it, they set up a village of campers: the main camper where the family gathered and Reece, her husband, and their three-year-old daughter slept, a camper for their teen daughter, and a camper for their teen son. There used to be a fourth camper, as well, which they were able to sell when their adult daughter made other living arrangements.
The main camper had a larger living room and kitchen for family gatherings, and the entire loft was turned into a play area for their toddler.
As for the teens, their campers were smaller and contained a bedroom, bathroom, and a small kitchen.
Reece confirmed with a laughing emoji:

It’s a pretty privileged concept, since many people wouldn’t be able to afford a single camper, let alone separate campers for each family member.

But if the money is available, creating a village like this would be a great way to give teenagers privacy and an early glimpse into adulthood and self-sufficiency without being far from their parents.

Other TikTokers considered doing something similar for their families, too.

But the fun didn’t stop there!
In a second installation to the camper village video, TikToker @reecebarndo_justpeachy gave a full glimpse of the common area in the camper village. Beneath the barn ceiling, the family had laid a large piece of turf. The campers were parked around the perimeter of the turf, creating a common area in the middle where there was seating, a play area, and a hot tub.
But then Reece hopped into a four-wheeler and drove across the property, giving a sense of just how large the property actually was, before revealing that her parents also live on the land in a very similar setup while the larger house is being built.
You can watch that video here.
This may not be a feasible setup for everyone, but this arrangement made sense for this particular family.
The combination of buying land and pre-used campers with building their own home was far more affordable than finding a home that was already built that met all of their requirements would have been.
Sometimes you have to think outside the box to get what you really want!
So, what do you think? Would you consider living like this?
