Maybe the World Really Is Your Oyster—When You Live Life on Wheels
Listen, times are pretty tough for a lot of us right now, between rising prices, decreasing job opportunities, and politics… I’m preaching to the choir, right?
But TikTokers and married travelers, Bailey and Nicole of @BaileyGoesOutside, believe they may have cracked the code.
Four years ago, they sold everything, trading in a life of four walls, working in an office, and what some call “stability” for their Toyota, a fifth-wheeler, and a new life with walls not included.
Nicole made the initial announcement in 2021 that the dynamic duo decided to hit the road full-time, in a short clip set to the song, “Opportunity” by Quvenzhané Wallis, using the lyrics, “Oh, now look at me, and this opportunity… is standing right in front of me,” as she caught a shot of the couple’s new fifth-wheeler making its first turn onto the highway.
In an overlay, written in large text, Nicole compared her feelings to the song lyrics:
“Me when I realized buying and living out of my RV means I owe nothing to any landlord or lender, and I can move anywhere, at any time, for any reason that solely I get to decide.”
@baileygoesoutside I created my own freedom, and it feels so good 🦅🙏🏻 #freedom #openroad #rv #rvlife #vanlife #rvliving #traveltrailer #camper #rvlifefulltime #truck ♬ Opportunity - Quvenzhané Wallis
There was, of course, some pushback in the comments, primarily concerns about ownership and hidden costs.
After all, the space might be yours, but what happens when you need to park or want to stay in one spot long term? What about all the costs of gas, repair, cleaning, waste removal, and more?
Are all of these new responsibilities worth the new sense of freedom?

But on the flip side, how much would you lose if you stayed in one place, knowing in your heart that you were meant to travel?
Since going on the road, Bailey and Nicole have launched a whole business centered around travel and reviewing different RVs, fifth-wheelers, and toy haulers. They’ve camped in unique places like on safari and at Disney, they’re proving it’s possible to raise a baby on the road, and they’re advocating for budget- and pet-friendly travel.
As Bailey so poignantly states in this video:
“The answer to my problems may not be at a campsite, but it wouldn’t hurt to check as many of them as I can.”
@baileygoesoutside I like to check by mountains, rivers, beaches and lakes 🚍🏔️🌲🏝️☀️🌊 🗺️ My @KZ RV Durango Gold is perfect for searching campsite anywhere, everywhere and anytime #rvlifestyle #rvliving #fifthwheel #rvtiktok #rvtravel #rvtiktok #camper #campsite #campground ♬ River Washed Hair - Zach Bryan
Bailey and Nicole’s fellow TikTokers loudly agree with that sentiment.

Maybe all of our answers can’t be found on the road, at a key landmark, or at a particularly extravagant campsite.
But opening our minds and hearts to new experiences, new places, and new ideas and beliefs… is something we, the people around us, and the world can never get enough of.
So, what do you think? Would you trade everything in for a chance at life on the road?
