Undertaking a do-it-yourself (DIY) RV renovation doesn’t have to cost thousands of dollars, take hundreds of hours, and perhaps even result in a tear or two.

Although almost 30 years old, the below 1988 Wildwood fifth wheel packs plenty of quality and functionality with cabinetry and furniture that are still in tip-top shape. The only problem?

A green (possibly blue) carpet that smells as bad as it looks.

Instead of having the carpet cleaned, the owner of this vintage fifth wheel opted for laminate flooring to freshen up the interior. The finished product adds a clean, modern touch to the ‘88 Wildwood and doesn’t break the bank, or take countless frustrating hours to complete.

The before

This green carpet ran throughout the entire RV, including the bathroom.

The during

Five to six hours into the job, and all that’s left to do is the bedroom.

The after

The end result looks fresh and clean, and the flooring no longer matches the green furniture!

The owner even installed some custom woodwork in the dining area, which, you guessed it, was also entirely carpeted before.

The key lesson here is that unless you’ve purchased a vintage RV that needs to be completely gutted, sometimes a small change can make a huge difference.
